Login on T-Online with Lotus Notes since last weekend not possible

Because  my company use Lotus Notes/Domino I also use the Notes client for my private mail with t-online.de and it worked for the last ten years.

Since the last weekend the notes client tell me that a Login at the remote Server is not possible. Because of the problems I have upgraded from 8.5.3 to 9.0.1 but still have the same failure.

I use SSL and IMAP - with Outlook or my iPhone I don't  have this problems.

It is possible to register a mail address for free: mail.t-online.de

The Server names are secureimap.t-online.de and securesmtp.t-online.de

I would appreciate any help.

regards

Hi Roger,

Would it be possible to open a PMR with IBM Support regarding the issue, asking to be added to SPR #LCAY9QCDSW/APAR LO82544?

We have just published a TechNote on this issue, which has arisen for Notes users accessing mail with providers who have disabled SSL v3:
Title: IBM Notes-only users cannot send mails using SMTP with TLS (SSLv3)
Ref #: 1688547
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21688547

Thanks,
Lisa

May be a ssl problem...

Hi Roger,

may be the limitation to sslv3 also by the notes client.

Do you get any replication error messages? F.E. "SSL bad peer certificate. Connection refused."

I assume this is related to the POODLE Desaster... thanks IBM for the Stone Age technology.

-> t-online not longer supports sslv3, only tls1.0 and later.

best regards,

Thomas

T-online disable SSL V3, Lotus Notes doesn't support TLS

Hello,

thank you Lisa and Thomas for your help. Using the recommended links I found in the T-Online forum the information that T-Online disabled SSL V3 last week and that Lotus Notes does not support TLS.

Supposedly Notes v9.02 will fix this and a solution in form of an apar fix is available for v.9.01. If so : where can I get this fix?

Regards

Roger

The fix for SPR #MPAA6PQCHK will not provide relief
Hi Roger,

It's likely that the fix described in the discussion relates to SPR #MPAA6PQCHK, which allowed for standalone Notes users to authenticate using negotiated SSL, but this relies on SSL v3 being available. With SSL v3 being disabled by providers, that fix will unfortunately not provide any relief.

We are documenting all customer reports for this issue, requiring support for TLS without SSL v3 involved, in SPR #LCAY9QCDSW/APAR LO82544. As well as each PMR for this issue adding to the SPR's triage weight, they will ensure we can pass on any news directly as soon as it is available, so we would certainly encourage you (and any other affected customer) to open a PMR.

Best,
Lisa
